Day 2 At The Pool

Day 2 is pretty exciting as its Kathryn's first day at the comps. The event for the morning is Statics, which is basically how long you can hold your breath for. The competitors have a 'coach' who is basically your safety person as well as motivator who stands beside you while you hold your breath, telling you how you are doing with time, gives you motivation and picks you up if you get too many contractions - a perfect job for the B MAN!! The top women do just under 7 minutes while the top men are just over 8 minutes. Kathrn's personal best is 5 minutes 46 and for the qualifyers she did 5:22. While it is short of her PB she still made it into the A finals (ie. top 8 women) so she is at least now world number 8 and hopefully a lot further up by tomorrow!!

Day 2 evening was the decider for Dynamic with fins. It was incredibly exciting because Natalia Molchanova, a Russian woman in her mid 40s broke her own world record and won first place at 205 meters - her son who is 20 came second in the mens finals. Crazy huh. I hate to name drop, but Elizabeth, this cool Norwegian girl I had lunch with yesterday came second in womens by beating her PB by about 20 meters. This is what competition does to you isn't it!!

The Flying Baroness's Slapping Six Packs In Slovenia Awards results for Day 2 are: Gold - Sweden, Silver - Russia, Bronze - Japan.

Relax peoples, its not The Big Day Out.
