How did I become a Baroness?

A popular and well loved Australian Government department allowed me to select the title "Baroness" in a drop down bar in a eye-rollingly tedious form I had to fill out online. It was a better option compared to others available such as Archbishop, Petty Officer, or Seaman.

Or Miss at that.

Why should women be distinguished by their marital status via their bloody title?? Its a hiddeous double standard when men stays a Mr forever. Why should women have to change their bloody surname after they get married and men don't? Why should the kids have to use their father's name and not their mother's?
